If you’re foreign worker and you want to work in Taiwan,
you need to have health certificate.

A health certificate can be issued within the past three months either by one of the designated local hospitals in Taiwan or by a licensed foreign hospital or clinic. In the case of a foreign certificate, the applicant should have it authenticated by the ROC Embassy, Consulate or Mission, which has jurisdiction over the place where the documents are issued.

Interested in working holidays in Taiwan
The ROC government enters into Arrangements on a working Holiday Scheme with foreign governments in order to promote people-to-people exchanges, encourage and enhance the interaction of ROC youth with those of other countries, and increase mutual understanding.

The primary intention of working holiday makers for coming to Taiwan is to holiday, but they may supplement their funds and to experience a foreign culture through incidental employment. Therefore, this scheme shall not apply to those who seek full-time jobs, to study, or to stay for long periods for other purposes. The ROC visas issued shall be marked with “WH”

Taiwan Regulation of Visa-Exempt Entry and Landing Visas for USA, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovak

Several Countries eligible for Landing Visas

1. Nationals of Czech Republic, Hungary , Poland and Slovak
2. Holders of USA passport with validity less than six months

Then, the requirements

1. a passport valid for at least six months.
2. a confirmed return air ticket or an air ticket and a visa for the next destination, and a confirmed seat reservation for departure.
3. fill out an application form with two photos.
4. visa fee of NT$ 1,200 (citizens of countries with reciprocal agreements shall be issued visas gratis) plus a handling fee of NT$ 800; For U.S. citizens: see remarks 2.
5. no criminal record.

The Durations : 30 days which starts from the next day of arrival and is not extendable.

2 Methods of Lodgement

1. Passengers entering the Republic of China through the C.K.S. International Airport may apply for a landing visa at the Visa Office of Consular Affairs Bureau at the C.K.S. International Airport.
2. Passengers who enter the Republic of China through the Kaohsiung International Airport shall apply for a “temporary entry permit” at the Kaohsiung  Aviation Police Station for temporary permits. These passengers must change the permit to a visa at the Bureau of Consular Affairs or its Kaohsiung Office within three days, or will be subjected to administrative penalty for overstaying.

Regulation of Visa-Exempt Entry and Landing Visas for Foreigners

Below are the countries which qualified for visa-exempt entry
Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Costa Rica, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, *Japan, Republic of Korea, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Monaco, the Netherlands , New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, U.K. and U.S.A.

But there’re requirements :
1. a passport with validity of at least six months after entry .(*Japanese Citizen is entitled to validity of passport at least three months,under same other requirements)(unless otherwise stipulated by treaty or agreement)
2. a confirmed return air ticket or an air ticket and a visa for the next destination, and a confirmed seat reservation for departure.
3. no criminal record.

And Your Duration of stay :
30 days , The 30 days’ duration of stay starts from the next day of arrival and is not extendable.

And you only can enter Taiwan through
C.K.S. International Airport, Kaohsiung International Airport, Keelung Harbor, Hualien Harbor, Taichung Harbor, Kaohsiung Harbor,Taitung Airport and Taichung Airport..

Procedures for Nationals of Designated Countries Applications for Visitor Visas to Business in the ROC

Designated Countries

     Nationals from following countries for visitor visa to business in the Republic of
China must fulfill the procedures of this section:

and applicable to applicants who have visited Taiwan only.)

Applying

     1.Applicants must seek a sponsor is Taiwan for their visa applications.
2.Applicants must submit their visa application to an ROC embassy, consulate or
representative  office after which they will receive an application number from the
counter.
3.Applicants shall inform their sponsor in Taiwan the visa application number and
inquire the sponsor to guarantee the visa application.
4.The guarantee application shall be submited to the Bureau of Consular Affairs in
Taipei.Required Documents

1. Guarantee for Foreigners Applying for Visas to Visit the ROC (please see the details on the back of the Guarantee. Applicants should fill in the name of the ROC embassy, consulate or representative office where they filed the application and the application number in the upper left hand corner, and affix the guarantor’s business seal below.
2. Explanatory Notice (This should explain the native of the applicant’s acquaintance and knowledge of the applicant, and the applicant’s itinerary for his/he the current visit to the ROC.
3. A photocopy of applicant’s passport.
4. Records of commercial correspondence and transactions (such as letters of credit, receipts of electronic money transfers, or bills of lading for imports and exports).
5. A photocopy of business license and registration of for-profit company.
6. Any other documents requested for the guarantor to provide for certain individual cases

Submission

1. Please send the appropriate documents and visa- wire charges (NT$50 per applicant) to counters 31 to 33 on the third floor of the Bureau. Upon receipt of the documents, the counter will draw up a cable-charges receipt and ask the applicant to proceed to the International Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) counter on the 3rd floor to pay fees and then return with the gray copy to the filing counter.
2. Guarantors in the ROC (domestic companies) can also first prepare the necessary documents to be delivered to counters 31 to 33.

Attention

1. Visas are issued as stipulated by Article 12 of the Statute Governing Issuance of ROC Visas for Foreign Passports. As a sovereign nation, the ROC has the right to refuse applications for grant visas without providing any explanation for such a decision.
2. If, after receiving the application, the Bureau determines there is a need for certain documents, it will notify the guarantor of this. In the event that missing documents are not furnished within a month or that the application is rejected, transfer fees will not be returned.
3. Within five working days of receipt of the application (excluding in special cases), the Bureau will notify the embassy, consulate or representative office of the status of the application and fax the corresponding “Notice for Screening Foreigners’ Application for ROC Visas” to the domestic fax number provided by the guarantor on the form. Applicants should then inquire as to the results at the embassy, consulate or representative office by providing the number provided an the fax from the Bureau.
4. Guarantee for Foreigners Applying for Visas to Visit the ROC, Visa Application Form, and Notice for Foreigners Applying for ROC Visa Verification can all be downloaded free of charge from the Bureau’s website (http://www.boca.gov.tw/form/index.htm) or requested free of charge from any branch of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Bureau of Consular Affairs.

Information on Republic of China Visitor Visas

1) Eligible Persons

Foreign nationals, who hold ordinary passports or other legal travel documents and who intend to stay in the Republic of China for less than six months for the purpose of transit, tourism, visiting relatives, attending a training course, receiving medical treatment or engaging in business or other permissible activities.

2) Requirements
A passport valid for at least six months;
A duly completed application form with two photos;
An outbound airline ticket or verifiable proof of purchase of steamship ticket ;
Documents verifying the purpose of visit; and
Other relevant documents.

3) Visa Validity
For foreign nationals from the countries with which the ROC has entered into reciprocal visa agreements, the validity of their Visitor Visas shall be decided in accordance with these agreements.
For other foreign nationals, a Visitor Visa is generally valid from three months up to one year.

4) Duration of stay
Fourteen days
Thirty days
Sixty days

5) Fee
For foreign nationals from the countries with which the ROC has entered into reciprocal visa agreements, the visa is issued gratis.
For other foreign nationals, the visa fees are: single entry: NT$ 1,200 (US$ 36)multiple entries: NT$ 2,400 (US$ 72).
The Visa application fee is NT$ 3,600($US100) for US citizens.

6) Visitor Visa holders who are permitted to stay in Taiwan for sixty or ninety days and whose visas bear no such remark as “no extension will be granted” may apply at the nearest city/county police headquarters for a maximum of 120 or 90 days of extensions

2. It takes seven working days to processing resident visa applications in the ROC. Those who provide false information on their applications or who cannot update documents within a month of being informed to do so will not have their visas issued and will not be returned their application fee.

3. The fee for resident visas is NT$2,200; related processing fees are NT$3,600. (Presently, this only applies to U.S.citizens.) The fee to change a visitor visa into a resident visa is NT$800.

4. Applicants outside the ROC should apply at an ROC embassy, consulate or office abroad. Applicants who already have an exchangeable visitor or resident visa can apply for a change of visa at the Bureau of Consular Affairs and do not have to leave the country.

5. Those who have entered on resident visas or are in the ROC on exchangeable visas should apply for an Alien Resident Certificate and reentry permit at the local municipal or (city) police department within 15 days of obtaining their updated resident visas. The duration of stay is based on the period stipulated in the ARC.

6. There regulations do not apply to those who enter the ROC on landing visas or with visa-exempt entry, or to foreign laborers currently in Taiwan.

7. Citizens from countries which have treaties, agreements or principles of reciprocity with the ROC are exempt from visa fees.

Notes

1. Sponsors must be the Minors mother and father. Parents that are ROC nationals but not on a household register in Taiwan must have a valid Permanent Resident Certificate or an Alien Resident Certificate; Hong Kong and Macau residents and Mainland Chinese nationals must have proof of legal residence.

2. The health certificate should include: an x-ray lung examination (large photo)；an HIV check；a stool examination for intestinal parasites (such as Entamoeba histolytic)；a regular medical examination (including a psychological evaluation)；and a leprosy check. Female foreign spouses should also have a medical report showing immunity to rubella or proof of vaccination against rubella. (For more information or to find hospitals that perform health examinations, please refer to the website of the Department of Health’s Center for Disease Control).

3. Those holding household registration in the ROC should have proof of entering Taiwan on a foreign passport and of moving their household registration overseas.

4. If the parents are divorced, the sponsor must have legal custody and provide proof thereof.

5. In cases in which the parents have household registration in Taiwan, but children are born abroad, the original and a copy of the parents’ passports must be attached (original to be returned after examination).

6. Grandparents with household registration in Taiwan who are applying for the minor should attach a power of attorney or letter of authorization from the applicant’s father, mother or legal guardian. (Powers of attorney or letters of authorization that are issued abroad do not need authentication if they are signed by the person who delivers then to the Bureau of Consular Affairs; otherwise they must be authenticated by an overseas ROC embassy, consulate or representative office).

7. Those attaching foreign documents that are in a language other than Chinese or English should attach a Chinese or English translation which has been authenticated by an ROC embassy, consulate or authorized overseas representative office.
