Procedures for Nationals of Designated Countries Applications for Visitor Visas to Business in the ROC

Designated Countries

     Nationals from following countries for visitor visa to business in the Republic of
China must fulfill the procedures of this section:
     Afghanistan
Algeria
Bangladesh (To apply for visas at  Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand ,
and applicable to applicants who have visited Taiwan only.)
Bhutan
Ghana
Cuba
Iran
Iraq
Democratic People’s Republic of  Korea
Laos
Myanmar
Nigeria
Nepal
Pakistan (To apply  for visas at Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office
in  the
Kingdom of Saudi Arabia , and applicable to applicants who have
visited Taiwan only.)
Sri Lanka
Somalia
Syria

Applying

     1.Applicants must seek a sponsor is Taiwan for their visa applications.
2.
Applicants must submit their visa application to an ROC embassy, consulate or
representative  office after which they will receive an application number from the
counter.
3.Applicants shall inform their sponsor in Taiwan the visa application number and
inquire the sponsor to guarantee the visa application.
4.The guarantee application shall be submited to the Bureau of Consular Affairs in
Taipei.
Required Documents

  1. Guarantee for Foreigners Applying for Visas to Visit the ROC (please see the details on the back of the Guarantee. Applicants should fill in the name of the ROC embassy, consulate or representative office where they filed the application and the application number in the upper left hand corner, and affix the guarantor’s business seal below.
  2. Explanatory Notice (This should explain the native of the applicant’s acquaintance and knowledge of the applicant, and the applicant’s itinerary for his/he the current visit to the ROC.
  3. A photocopy of applicant’s passport.
  4. Records of commercial correspondence and transactions (such as letters of credit, receipts of electronic money transfers, or bills of lading for imports and exports).
  5. A photocopy of business license and registration of for-profit company.
  6. Any other documents requested for the guarantor to provide for certain individual cases

Submission

  1. Please send the appropriate documents and visa- wire charges (NT$50 per applicant) to counters 31 to 33 on the third floor of the Bureau. Upon receipt of the documents, the counter will draw up a cable-charges receipt and ask the applicant to proceed to the International Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) counter on the 3rd floor to pay fees and then return with the gray copy to the filing counter.
  2. Guarantors in the ROC (domestic companies) can also first prepare the necessary documents to be delivered to counters 31 to 33.

Attention

  1. Visas are issued as stipulated by Article 12 of the Statute Governing Issuance of ROC Visas for Foreign Passports. As a sovereign nation, the ROC has the right to refuse applications for grant visas without providing any explanation for such a decision.
  2. If, after receiving the application, the Bureau determines there is a need for certain documents, it will notify the guarantor of this. In the event that missing documents are not furnished within a month or that the application is rejected, transfer fees will not be returned.
  3. Within five working days of receipt of the application (excluding in special cases), the Bureau will notify the embassy, consulate or representative office of the status of the application and fax the corresponding “Notice for Screening Foreigners’ Application for ROC Visas” to the domestic fax number provided by the guarantor on the form. Applicants should then inquire as to the results at the embassy, consulate or representative office by providing the number provided an the fax from the Bureau.
  4. Guarantee for Foreigners Applying for Visas to Visit the ROC, Visa Application Form, and Notice for Foreigners Applying for ROC Visa Verification can all be downloaded free of charge from the Bureau’s website (http://www.boca.gov.tw/form/index.htm) or requested free of charge from any branch of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Bureau of Consular Affairs.
